What is the purpose of a table lamp and floor lamps?
By purpose i mean like what is does, how the way it should be used effects the height it should be made at. (for both table and floor lamps)
so for example is it that a table lamp shouldn’t be very tall as they are only used to see certain areas whereas a floor lamp is much higher because the light needs to spread out across further. – Is that right?
How do you suggest i should write it?
A table lamp is there to provide local lighting, sometimes for ambience like a generic decorative lamp but usually to help visually acuity in doing an activity, such as writing, reading or drawing. As they only need to illuminate the immediate area they do not need to be big and only really need to be carefully designed around the reflector to ensure the light diffuses correctly for the purpose.
Tall lamps are more usually designed for ambient lighting. Hence their form is more important, as these types usually have very open reflectors/shades to help diffuse softer, less focused light over a greater spread.
