what can i use to clean a billiard stick shaft?
I’m ot so sure I agree with using alchohol (although I highly regard Lori Ann) but it has obviously worked for her over the years. I concur that alchohol is a good drying agent but is still “wet” like water when applied to a cue shaft. Water or anything wet has a propencity to swell the grain in wood.
I use 2,000 grit (or higher) sand paper to clean she shaft of my cue. It is unabrasive to the wood but will remove the dirt and grime that builds up over time. It will take years before the high grit sand paper begins to deteriorate the finish on the cue.
Just as a side note, I never ever EVER use and kind of powder on my hands to facilitate making my cue slide easier through my bridge. Consider this. Water and flour will turn to paste when mixed together. Baby powder on sweaty hands….
