What finish for an oak dining room table?
Hi, I’ve just sanded back an old oak dining room table then waxed with a clear bees wax. The children had one meal on it and there are marks everywhere. What would the best finish be? Should I sand back/remove the wax then seal and put varnish over it? I don’t like high gloss finishes which is why I chose wax as it has a more lived in feel, but I need it to be completely usable – homework, dinner, drawing etc… Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
A natural finish buffed with wax is best try using heavy weight tablecloths when anyone is using the table who is likely to spill stuff.
