Why did only have the floor stand & applaud during the State of the Union?
During the State of the Union there were times that only half the floor stood and clapped when Bush made a statement. Other times, both sides of the floor stood and applauded. Is it because one half the senate & the other the house of reps? Or is one side republican & one side democrats? I’m just curious as to why only 1/2 the floor would stand and applaud at times……you could divide room right down the middle on the tv screen.
The democrats sit on one side, and the republicans on the other. The democrats won’t stand on some issues they disagree with the president on. Notice they all stand when honoring the troops. It would be rude not to. Even though the dems don’t like funding the troops, they will stand when the president says we are going to make sure they are funded. When a democrat is in office, the same thing happens. The republicans don’t stand when they disagree with the president.
